Interview with Nicole Chan Photography
Supporting small businesses and independent creators is one of the most important ways we can foster our community during these difficult times. That’s why we wanted to feature one of our favorite local businesses this week on our blog! Nicole Chan is a local wedding photographer who got her start in the corporate world but took a chance and pursued her passion of photography. It certainly paid off! We sat down with her to ask her a few questions about how she got her start in the business.
1.) How did you get started with your photography business? I started my career in management consulting and transitioned to photography because I wanted a change from corporate golden handcuffs. Taking the leap to being a Boston wedding photographer was terrifying, but I loved it then (still do!) and I can’t imagine doing anything that would make me happier.
2.) What’s your favorite story you have since beginning a career as a photographer? There are so many. Being in the wedding world, I’ve seen it all. Everything from finding drunk maid of honors in the elevator to the most heartfelt and emotional speeches and vows.

4.) What is the hardest part about having your own business? What is the best part? The hardest is finding the balance between wearing all the hats - being the CEO, creative, marketing director, admin, etc. The part I love the most is feeling like I’m making an impact in a family’s visual legacy! I always strive to create photos and videos that I would want for my own family. My style is timeless, colorful, and heartfelt. I love the candids and the little moments the most.
5.) How can people book you? Email at nicole@nicolechanphotography so that we can get to know each other!
